How to configure email in Odoo

        In Odoo, we can send and receive emails by doing proper configuration of email servers. There are two types of email configuration in Odoo. First one is outgoing mail server configuration and the second one is the incoming mail server configuration.

Outgoing mail server configuration:

To configure outgoing mail server, activate the developer mode and go to Settings. Then select Outgoing Mail Servers under the Technical menu.

From the tree view click on the Create button for creating a new outgoing mail server. Now we will get a new form to configure email. Then fill the fields in the following screen.

1. Description : Description of the outgoing mail server

2. Priority : Priority of outgoing mail server. Low priority mail servers are used first and mostly.

3. SMTP Server : Server SMTP (eg. smtp.gmail.com - For Gmail)

4. SMTP Port : SMTP port of the server (eg. 465 - For Gmail)

5. Connection Security : SSL/TLS.

6. Username : Your e-mail account.

7. Password : Password of your e-mail account.

After filling all the fields click on the Test Connection button. If the test is successful we can see the success message as in the screen.

Incoming mail server configuration:

To configure the incoming mail server, go to Settings and then select Incoming Mail Servers under the Technical menu.

From the tree view click on the Create button for creating a new incoming mail server. Then fill the fields in the following screen.

1. Name : Name of the incoming mail server
   .

2. Server Type : We can select either POP, IMAP or Local server. The POP server is the most used server and it is used for getting emails from the server to a client.

3. Server Name : Name of the server (eg. pop.gmail.com - For Gmail).

4. Port : Port of the server.
   

5. SSL/TLS : Check this field if you want to encrypt messages with SSL/TLS.

6. Username : Your e-mail account.

7. Password : Password of your e-mail account.

After filling all the fields and click the Test & Confirm button for testing and confirming the connection. Now you can send all your e-mails from Odoo and fetch all your e-mails into Odoo.
